History

Inspired by the drive to contribute over and above baseline education and sharing a belief that meeting the needs of students and educators and having an active voice in improving public schools and education was too big a task for a district to undertake alone, Granite Education Foundation was established in 1988 as a recognized 501 (c)(3) non-profit entity. A small group of Salt Lake County business owners, Salt Lake County residents, educators, and Granite District administrators were united by a common concern for increasing levels of funding and support for pre-K─12 education in Salt Lake County.

Granite Education Foundation is no ordinary organization. The institution facilitates working programs and in-kind donations that benefit students and teachers on a regular basis. Through its outreach and partnerships with local and national business entities, the organization encourages others to make a direct and meaningful impact on children in public education.

The Foundation works alongside teachers to provide students the support necessary to not only succeed in the classroom, but to succeed in life. Through its efforts, students’ educational experiences have been enhanced, kids' and educators’ horizons have been broadened and teachers’ resources have been multiplied. The scope and vision of district and school faculties and administrators have expanded.

Granite Education Foundation works to develop and implement school improvement initiatives, create model programs, award grants and scholarships, and leverage community resources to support, strengthen and improve public education throughout Granite School District.
